Welcome to the nmCollector.net online gun identification and gun values database. I hope this tool will become useful to members of the gun collecting community as we begin to develop and populate it.
This database is only as accurate as the people who enter the data are. There are many factors involved in establishing the value of a firearm including condition, originality, scarcity, history, and local market conditions. Please consider this as only one of many sources when determining the value of any particular firearm.
There are two ways to use this database (Please see buttons below).
A word about cookies and privacy. By default, web browsers are stateless ... meaning each time a page is loaded the last page is completely forgotten. This is a problem for applications that require a continuous train of thought across multiple pages for each individual using it ... for example, an application that requires that the user log on can not afford to forget who just logged on! One answer is to use cookies to remember information between pages. These cookies are very small text files that are stored on the user's PC. There are many issues with cookies tracking where users browse on the Internet and often reporting that information to third-party servers. For that reason many people disable cookies on their computer. Another option is to store that data on the server. However, when the data is stored on the web server each page has to know where to access that information ... one way to do that is to place a key at the end of the url which points to the session information stored on the server. PHP allows for a combination of these approaches. if you allow cookies on your computer my application will use that approach. However, I make provision for those who do not allow cookies by storing the information on the server and including a pointer to it in the url. Thus, the reason for the extra characters you see in the url when you use this application!
